Corporal, Royal Signals (National Service), HMT Empire Fowey Southampton to Pusan, S.Korea March 1952. Attached to Military Police for voyage and on 24/7 shift rota patrolling ship throughout, plus shore patrols Algiers and Colombo and gangplank duty in Port Said. Turned from Korea on same ship July 1953 - ceasefire announced as we sailed through Mediterranean Sea. I day in HK outwards but cancelled on return due to diversion to Okinawa to offload sick soldier. Re photo of certificate. On leaving Singapore ship travelled to Mombasa East Africa to offload Black Watch. En rote we crossed Equator and traditional ceremony held. Certificate issued to those who directly took part (I simply watched!).
