FOREWORD. The main purpose of this Gazetteer is to provide a convenient guide to the correct spelling of local place names. In addition, a certain amount of descriptive material on the various localities is also included.
Stanley Village or Chek Chue 赤柱– a fishing village and one of the longest-inhabited localities on Hong Kong Island. There is an area devoted to farming in the vicinity of the long-established village of Stanley.
