Sister St. Phillipe was born Annette Beaudoin in Feb 1896 in Quebec, Canada and was a member of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, which was founded in 1902 in Montreal. Sister St. Philippe was assigned to work in Hong Kong before WW II and was subsequently interned on 20 Jan 1942 at Stanley Camp.
She and three other Canadian nuns of the Immaculate Conception Order at Hong Kong were held at Stanley Camp until they were repatriated on the MS Gripsholm after exchange at Goa on 19 Oct 1943. There were a total of 14 nuns from the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception on the Gripsholm, including 8 from missions at Koriyama and Wakamatsu, Japan and 2 from Manchukuo, China.
