Photograph from the Hong Kong Sunday Herald by King's Studio of the 5th Hong Kong (St John's Cathedral) Troop posing with their founding Scoutmaster, George Stainburn Wilby. The Scouts have been recorded as having met at different places including Bishop House and the Scout Headquarters on Lower Albert Road. The Troop was later disbanded in July 1940 because all the members had been evacuated from HK.

He has previously been identified on Gwulo as a maths teacher at King's College, then Queen's College, and later the Central British School/KGV, also serving in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps. He was also an active part in life at St John's Cathedral and the Scouting movement in Hong Kong, such as in the remarks by the the Rev. N. V. Halward, Colony Commissioner, expressing deep thanks for his 'long time running the Scouting Gazette' on 14 March 1940.
